Verizon stores giving away $3M worth of backpacks ahead of back-to-school season
PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) — Verizon wireless stories in the Peoria area are giving away millions of dollars in backpacks away for free ahead of the back-to-school season. According to a press release from Round Room, LLC, participating Verizon stores in Pontiac, Chillicothe, Peoria and Washington are giving away $3 million worth of clear backpacks for free to students in an effort to relieve the financial burden on parents and caregivers before class starts.
With Upcoming Retirement, SV Schools Searching for Superintendent
The job comes around to every school board ….sometime. That job is to search for a new superintendent. With the impending retirement of Superintendent James Hermes, the Spring Valley School District 99 has commenced a search for his replacement. This task is being approached in two ways. The board has hired the Illinois Association of School Boards to assist and the IASB has prepared a survey for District employees and members of the community to complete. Results will be tallied and used to help advertise the position. All survey responses will remain anonymous. Deadline is July 31.
