Rock Island High School Debate Team Takes Home Trophies From Illinois State Tourney
Congratulations to the Rock Island Debate team for their outstanding performance at Saturday’s tournament. Competing against the top programs in the state, the Rocks took home three team trophies and three additional individual medals. Leading the way for the Rocks was the team of Olivia Seidlitz and Haleigh Laud who finished the day with a perfect 4-0 record while taking home first-place honors in the JV/sophomore division of Public Forum. In the Novice/freshman division of Public Forum, the team of Sage Ray and Ethan Ignatius finished 2nd overall while the team of Myaels Hoffeditz and Maddie Schrempf finished right behind them in 3rd place. Both teams finished the day with a 3-1 record. The Rocks also received individual speaking medals from Sage Ray who finished 3rd in the novice division, and Millie Gidaszewski and Olivia Seidlitz who placed 4th and 5th respectively in the JV division. The Rocks placed 4 of the top ten individual finishers in the novice division while taking 3 of the top ten spots in the JV division. Great job Rocks!
