Prince William Little Theatre stages ‘110 in the Shade’ with plenty of heat
There is plenty of heat in 110 in the Shade at Prince William Little Theatre. 110 in the Shade is adapted from N. Richard Nash’s book The Rainmaker. It depicts love, hope, and redemption in a small southwestern town during the Great Depression. It garnered four Tony awards in 1964, including Best Composer and Lyricist. This musical received a Tony nomination in 2007 for Best Revival of a Musical. The music is by Harvey Schmidt and the lyrics by Tom Jones.
Chamber Music Festival 2024 Concerts Announced
LA PLATA, Md. – Charles County Youth Orchestra’s Chamber Music Festival 2024 will present two free concerts in the beautiful garden of Christ Church, 112 Charles Street, La Plata, on two consecutive Saturdays, July 20 and 27 at 8:00 p.m. In case of inclement weather the concerts will be held inside the church.
“Freaky Friday” at Upper Room Theatre
Upper Room Theatre, a drama ensemble affiliated with All Saints Catholic Church, will present the musical Freaky Friday July 16 to 21. The musical will be performed at All Saints Catholic Church’s Performing Arts Center on Stonewall Road in Manassas. The cast and crew are comprised of theater aficionados of all ages and backgrounds, both amateur and professional.
Humane Society hosting 5K in Triangle
Runners and walkers will be filling up the Prince William Forest Park trails on September 21. The “Pets 4 Life” 5K is returning for its second year. Held by the Humane Society of Northern Virginia (HSNV), the rain or shine race starts at 10 a.m. Check-in is at 9 a.m.
Stafford County theater teacher honored for impact on student’s life
Longwood University student Aidan Brown never forgot his H.H. Poole Middle School theater teacher. He said she’s made him who he is today. Brown, a rising junior at the Farmville college, nominated his former teacher, Andrea Candea-Carroll, for a Teacher of the Year award that Longwood has presented for the past three years.
