CHARLOTTE ( QUEEN CITY NEWS ) — The NASCAR Hall of Fame helped high school students get into the world of motorsports on Friday.

As part of a special showcase at the Hall of FAme’s new camp, 9th-grade students debuted and raced their custom-built go-karts.

Innovators spent the week engaged in STEM education, all coached by NASCAR Hall of Famer Jerry Cook.

Cook said he built his first modified car when he was 13 and says he’s happy to see a new generation getting into the sport.
