FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (CHARLOTTE SPORTS LIVE) — We are finally digging out of this drought– and it’s not because of all the rain we are seeing from Tropical Storm Debby.

Football season is back with the Carolina Panthers on the road for their first preseason game Thursday against the Patriots.

Football is finally going on. And at the moment, that is all we need.

It may be an exhibition and quarterback Bryce Young – nor his backup – isn’t playing, but there are plenty of other reasons to be excited about this game. One of them involves a guy playing for the other team.

Former Myers Park and UNC star Drake Maye is now all grown up. He’s a rookie playing for New England , and just like any NFL newbie, he’s gone through some growing pains in his first camp.

Fortunately though, he is not letting that get to him and is excited to make his debut against his hometown team. It should be a fun night for Maye and it should be a fun one for Panthers fans as well.
