Man in custody after allegedly shooting at officers, hours-long standoff in Pageland

PAGELAND, S.C. ( QUEEN CITY NEWS ) — An hours-long overnight standoff involving a barricaded suspect and an officer-involved shooting came to an end Thursday morning in Chesterfield County after the armed suspect was taken into custody, South Carolina Law Enforcement Division confirmed.

SLED said Thursday morning that the incident began Wednesday night and continued into Thursday at the intersection of Sale Barn Lane and SC Highway 9 in Pageland.

The armed barricaded suspect was safely taken into custody shortly after 9 a.m., SLED confirmed.

The Chesterfield County Sheriff’s Office and a SWAT team also assisted with the incident, and negotiations. The circumstances surrounding the initial shooting are unknown at this time and this remains an active investigation.
