STATESVILLE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — Two people were charged in connection to a stolen vehicle reported at a Statesville motel Saturday.

According to the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded just after midnight Aug. 17 to the Motel 7 on Greenland Drive. Upon arrival, they reportedly located a blue Dodge Challenger in the parking lot and confirmed it was stolen out of Indiana.

The sheriff said deputies reviewed surveillance footage that captured a white female, identified as 26-year-old Amber Marie McCoy, of Statesville, exiting the Charger with a white male passenger, identified as Anthony Mack Dorland, 43, of Hickory.

Deputies say the pair were reportedly seen entering the motel at approximately 10:55 p.m. Aug. 16.

They confirmed that both McCoy and Dorland had outstanding warrants for their arrest out of Catawba County. After deputies knocked on the door, they say McCoy eventually opened it and was placed under arrest. Dorland was found hiding under a bed and was also placed under arrest.

Both suspects were transported to the Iredell County Detention Center. McCoy was charged with felony possession of a stolen motor vehicle and was issued no bond, but received an additional $2,000 secured bond on the outstanding Catawba County warrant for felony possession of methamphetamine.

Dorland was served with his outstanding warrant for arrest for felony probation violation out of Catawba County and received a $10,000 secured bond. His criminal history also includes being charged with felony habitual impaired driver and two counts of felony possession of methamphetamine.
