MAIDEN, N.C. ( QUEEN CITY NEWS ) — A Lincoln County man has been convicted and sentenced for recording a 13-year-old relative in his care, according to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office.

Investigators say Havens hid “spy cameras” in a home’s bathroom multiple times to record a 13-year-old girl who is a relative. He then made copies of the compromising and illegal videos.

One of Havens’ family members reportedly found two cameras in March. A search warrant would later seize cameras that looked like phone chargers, recording devices and electronic devices, according to authorities.

Officials say other people were on the recordings, but the videos of the 13-year-old were the only ones copied for Havens’ “personal use.”

Havens was sentenced to between 2 years, 7 months, and 8 years, 11 months. He will also be required to register as a sex offender for 30 years.
