CHARLOTTE ( QUEEN CITY NEWS ) – Contractors are still working on the HVAC issues Thursday at an east Charlotte high school, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools confirmed with Queen City News.

The issues are ongoing at Hawthorne Academy of Health Sciences where administrators say the building’s automated control system (BAS) is malfunctioning.

The following message was sent out to students and families. “ We’ve been working with CMS staff and contractors to restore air to many areas. Operations are making progress on outstanding work orders for the campus. I will keep families updated and appreciate your patience as we work to restore services to classrooms.”

According to CMS, the system controls when air comes on and goes off, and if it’s cool or hot.

“I can confirm that our building services team is working hard to resolve the issue alongside contractors,” school officials confirmed midday Thursday.

The high on Thursday, Aug. 29, is expected to be 95 degrees in Charlotte.
