    Catawba meth trafficker sentenced to more than 19 years in prison: DOJ

    CATAWBA, N.C. ( QUEEN CITY NEWS ) — A Catawba man was sentenced after being found with more than eight pounds of meth in 2022, according to the United States Attorney’s Office.

    On Wednesday, 44-year-old Bobby Lee Fish was sentenced to 19 years and 7 months in prison followed by five years of supervised release for trafficking methamphetamine.

    According to documents, the Hickory Police Department was investigating Fish’s drug activity in Catawba County. On April 6, 2022, a confidential informant bought roughly 52.8 grams of meth from Fish. Weeks later, on April 21, Fish sold the same person 105.9 grams of meth. A few weeks after that, on May 2, authorities conducted a traffic stop on his vehicle. After searching they found four packages containing a total of 3,674.1 grams of meth (8.1 pounds).

    About two years later, on April 3, 2024, Fish pled guilty to distributing methamphetamine. Officials say he has an extensive criminal history for crimes committed in North Carolina, Florida, and Georgia.

    Fish is currently in federal custody and will be transferred to the custody of the federal Bureau of Prisons once assigned to a federal facility.
