    South Carolina Board of Education finalizes school cellphone policy

    SOUTH CAROLINA ( QUEEN CITY NEWS ) — More schools across South Carolina may become “no-phone zones” in order to get needed funding.

    This comes after the South Carolina State Board of Education finalized its cellphones in school policy. The regulations say in order for a district to receive state funds it must implement a policy banning the use of personal electronic communication devices during the school day.

    This includes anything that’s used to access the internet, Wi-Fi, cell reception, or to capture pictures and video.

    Only students who explicitly lay out the requirement in a learning or medical plan have an exception. The new policy begins at the start of 2025.
