    Charges expected in deadly wreck at Duke’s Grill in Monroe: Police

    MONROE, N.C. ( QUEEN CITY NEWS ) — Charges are expected to be filed in a deadly wreck that occurred this week in Union County, Monroe Police announced on Thursday.

    Officers responded to the incident around 3 p.m. on Wednesday by Concord Ave. and Phifer St. Sandra Jennings, 70, of Indian Trail, was found suffering from injuries and was transported to an area medical center where she was later pronounced dead.

    An initial investigation stated that Jennings was a passenger in a parked truck at Duke’s Grill and had exited her vehicle. A Toyota pickup that was being operated by Joseph Timothy Lemmond was trying to cross Concord Ave and failed to yield the right of way while pulling out in front of another truck, causing a collision with Jennings’ vehicle, according to the police report.

    There is no mention of any charges at this time and this remains an active investigation.
