A pop-up dog park will be available July 1 through Aug. 31 while summer maintenance is performed at the town's Pocket Park for Pups.

The pop-up dog park will be located on the north side of Founders' Park, 22407 S. Ellsworth Rd. There will be a designated area for small/timid dogs and a separate area for large/active dogs, a town press release stated.

Parking for the small dog area will be in the northwest parking lot with access from Ellsworth or Aldecoa roads. Parking for the large dog area will be in the Aldecoa lot on the east side of the park with access from Aldecoa Road.

The pop-up dog park will have the same hours of operation as the Pocket Park for Pups. It is open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., all days except Tuesdays, and noon-10 p.m. on Tuesdays.

Queen Creek’s Pocket Park for Pups is a heavily used facility and that use has a cumulative effect on the site – specifically on the ability for turf to grow.

The closure will allow staff to recondition the soil and conduct deep watering, giving the roots time to strengthen and grow deeper into the soil. Deeper, healthier roots promote turf growth even with heavy use.

You must keep your dog on a leash from your vehicle until you are inside the dog park, as well as anytime you are in a public space other than the designated dog park. For more information about the temporary dog park, visit https://bit.ly/4ceBQuC .
