Sal declares Mets season is officially back on: 'Here we come!'

Sal was reluctant to jump back in with the Mets during Monday’s show, but after a 14-run, 22-hit drubbing of the defending world champs on Monday night, he came in Tuesday celebrating the return of New York’s season.

“The Mets are back baby! How about that?” Sal said. “Twenty two hits, 14 runs, trouncing the world champs! Here we come! Yes!

“If you watch the game last night, how can you not be [excited]? Long-term excitement, we can save that for another day…look at the way they played and tell me who is better than them in the National League, outside of the clear top teams?”

Sure, Sal still doesn’t believe in this Mets core long term, and doesn’t believe it can be the nucleus of a championship team, but right now, in the scope of 2024, the Mets are absolutely back in the playoff race, and if they get in, recent history has shown that anything can happen.

“Even for me, suspend your logical, practical thoughts and your true inner beliefs if you are a doubter in this core, and enjoy the ride,” Sal said. “Last night was fun, this winning streak is fun, and the reality is, the Mets season is back on. They now have a season.”
