    REMY MA’S CRIMINAL HISTORY

The rapper , born Reminisce Kioni Smith, rose to prominence in the rap world in the early 2000s as part of Fat Joe ‘s Terror Squad group.

Remy, 44, signed with Fat Joe’s label shortly after the death of rap legend Big Pun.

She made her debut as part of Terror Squad on the group’s final album, True Story, in 2004.

Their single Lean Back topped the Billboard Hot 100 for three weeks and earned Remy her first Grammy nomination.

Remy released her solo album, There’s Something About Remy: Based on a True Story, in 2006.

The album included the hit singles Whuteva, Conceited, and Feels So Good.

Remy previously served six years in prison after being convicted of shooting an acquaintance outside a Manhattan nightclub in July 2007.

She was sentenced to eight years for her involvement in the shooting but only served six before being released in 2014.

Remy returned to the hip-hop scene immediately after her prison release.

In July 2015, she and her husband, rapper Papoose , joined the cast of Love & Hip Hop: New York .

The rap couple, who married while Remy was incarcerated, starred in the spin-off show Remy & Papoose: Meet the Mackies, which showed how they prepared for the birth of their first child together.

In May 2019, Remy turned herself in to police after being investigated for allegedly punching Love & Hip Hop: New York co-star Brittney Taylor in the face.

However, the charges were eventually dropped due to lack of evidence.
