Luis Severino is on the bump for the first time this August. He will be happy to be out of July, which was his worst month in a Mets uniform. Severino had three solid starts, but they were sandwiched between two dreadful outings. Coors Field is not the easiest place to bounce back, but Severino hopes to start August on the right foot.

Here is how the Mets lineup behind Severino:

    1.) SS Francisco Lindor

    2.) LF Brandon Nimmo

    3.) DH J.D. Martinez

    4.) 1B Pete Alonso

    5.) 3B Mark Vientos

    6.) 2B Jose Iglesias

    7.) C Luis Torrens

    8.) CF Harrison Bader

    9.) RF Tyrone Taylor

New York faces lefty Kyle Freeland. The lefty on the mound means Jeff McNeil and Jesse Winker start the game on the bench. Mark Vientos got a rare off day yesterday. He will be ready to go today.

Vientos has mashed lefties all season. He is hitting .366 with a 1.116 OPS against southpaws.

Jose Iglesias has also had a lot of success against lefties. Iglesias is hitting .366 with a .944 OPS against lefties. Iglesias apparently enjoys playing in Coors Field. He had a very solid year in 2022 while playing for the Rockies.

Kyle Freeland never got back to his age 25 form. He has basically been a mediocre pitcher for six seasons in a row. Freeland has had success against the Mets throughout the years. He has a 2.52 ERA vs. them in 25 innings but the Mets are built to hit lefties. They should find success against Freeland.

Here is how the Rockies lineup behind Freeland:

    1.) DH Charlie Blackmon

    2.) SS Ezequiel Tovar

    3.) CF Brenton Doyle

    4.) 3B Ryan McMahon

    5.) 2B Brendan Rogers

    6.) RF Kris Bryant

    7.) 1B Michael Toglia

    8.) C Elias Diaz

    9.) LF Jake Cave

    How to Watch

The first pitch is scheduled for 8:40 EST. Mets fans can watch the game on SNY, or MLB.TV. You can listen to the game on WCBS 880 or WINS 92.3 FM HD2.
