Holsendolph Arrested by VPD for Aggravated Assault
VALDOSTA, LOWNDES COUNTY, Georgia – Valdosta Police Department (VPD) Chief Leslie Manahan has released information about a recent aggravated assault. Manahan indicates that VPD officers responded to the 400 block of Hightower Street in response to a citizen E911 call about 11:30 p.m. The citizen reported that another Valdostan had been stabbed.
Valdosta State Prison warden terminated after 16 months
VALDOSTA, Ga. (WALB) - The Valdosta State Prison warden has been terminated after only working at the prison for 16 months, according to the Georgia Department of Corrections. Warden Ralph Shropshire was terminated on Monday, July 1 for unprofessional conduct. According to the Georgia Department of Corrections, it will, “not be commenting further as the dismissal is a personnel matter.”
Be aware of Wild Adventures ticket scams
ECB Publishing, Inc., Greene Publishing, Inc. and Riverbend News were recently notified of scams related to their Wild Adventures tickets giveaways. The newspapers post new giveaways every week on their Facebook pages for readers to enter for a chance to win a pack of tickets to the theme park in Valdosta, Ga. The winners are announced in a separate post from the contest These comments came from scammers and not the newspapers. Greene Publishing first announced the scam on May 5, telling readers that their office does not comment the winners in the comments section. Riverbend News' first post about the scam was May 10, and called attention to the false Facebook page that looked similar to Riverbend News' page. ECB Publishing posted about the scam on May 17, sharing that the scammer was also using a false Facebook page.
