    Rahway Knights of Columbus to Celebrate Independence Day at Gravesite of Declaration Signer Abraham Clark

    A ceremony honoring American patriot Abraham Clark will take place in Rahway Cemetery on July 4th.

    RAHWAY, NJ — The Rahway Knights of Columbus Council 1146 are holding an Independence Day observance at the grave of American patriot and signer of the Declaration of Independence Abraham Clark on Thursday, July 4, at 10 a.m. The ceremony will take place in Rahway Cemetery, located at 1670 St. Georges Avenue.

    Clark was a delegate to the Continental Congress in 1776 and one of only five New Jersey delegates to sign the Declaration of Independence. The others were John Hart, Francis Hopkinson, Richard Stockton, and John Witherspoon.

    Clark grew up in what is today Roselle and was buried in Rahway Cemetery in 1794. Buried with him are his wife Sarah and three sons who fought in the American Revolution: Aaron, Andrew, and Thomas.

    This will be the 10th annual ceremony honoring the life of Abraham Clark held by the Knights of Columbus.

    Parking is available at 1600 St. Georges Avenue, just a block or so from the Rahway Cemetery.
