Rahway Public School District's Office of Curriculum & Instruction Offering Theater Camp

RAHWAY, NJ — If you’re hearing Cruella de Vil in your home or listening to a tune about Kanine Krunchies, you’re probably currently living with a performer!

The Rahway Theater Camp, run by the Rahway Public School District's Office of Curriculum and Instruction and led by the creative talents of Deanna Flanagan, Lindsay Jenkins, and Zach Love, is underway.

These dedicated professionals guide the talents and excitement of students in grades 3-8 throughout the district as they prepare a production of 101 Dalmatians . Supported by volunteers from the Rahway High School Theater Arts Department, the young performers learn to sing, dance, and present their lines in preparation for a performance for their families at the end of the three-week program.

The camp was so popular last summer that two sessions were offered this year. The first session runs from July 1 through July 18, and the second runs from July 22 to August 8.

Housed and presented at the Rahway High School Performing Arts Center, the program gives students a professional theater experience with scripts, blocking, and rehearsals.

Brendan Gillard, who played Gaston in this year’s Beauty and the Beast production, is on hand to guide the young students. “This opportunity is great!" he said. "It is cool to see the children thrive in the environment. I like to see them grow and learn at such a young age. I like sharing something I care about with younger kids.”
