Beautiful weather arrives through start of weekend
By Joe Fitzwater,
Tonight features partly cloudy skies with isolated showers possible before midnight. We’ll see temperatures dip back into the mid 50s.
Friday will be a beautiful day on the way, with high pressure to our west nudging approaching showers from the northwest and keeping them to our north. We’ll see plenty of sunshine as a result and it’s a cool and comfy day overall with highs in the low 70s. We should be in the mid 70s this time of year. Don’t forget about the UV index this time of year, which will be running high – sunburns can occur in as little as 20 minutes!
Saturday features mostly sunny skies with high pressure nearly overhead but with a light and variable breeze expected, temperatures won’t jump too much, as we remain below average with high temperatures in the low 70s after beginning the day near 50 degrees. This will be the perfect day to get the grass cut, take the dog out for a nice stroll or whatever outdoor plans you may have.
Sunday brings showers back into the picture with a weak cold front pushing through. Sunday won’t be an all-day washout but a few scattered showers off and on are a good bet, with mostly cloudy skies and high temperatures struggling to reach 70 degrees. A tenth to a quarter of an inch of rain is expected, so flooding is not expected.
Monday tries to squeeze an isolated shower over the high mountain country, but otherwise we are dry once again, with mostly sunny skies and high temperatures in the low 70s – yet again another gorgeous day!
Tuesday continues the beautiful weather with high pressure in control. Mostly sunny skies will be accompanied with high temperatures inching up toward normal for this time of year in the low to mid 70s.
Wednesday starts to see our wind return to coming from the south and that will begin to introduce a little humidity back into the picture. That could squeeze an isolated shower or two in the afternoon, with high temperatures in the mid 70s.
Thursday sees a little more heat and a little more humidity than Wednesday and that means an isolated shower or storm is possible in the afternoon with high temperatures nearing 80 degrees.
Looking ahead, in your extended forecast, we are trending much warmer than where we’ve been the last several days. A blocking ridge means temperatures will crank into the 80s for Friday, Saturday and Father’s Day. Aside from a few isolated storms though, the weather looks pretty quiet, though some bank thermometers in some of our western counties will likely flirt toward 90 degrees.
