Little hiccup: Iso. rain chances today prelude and warm and dry week ahead
By Matt Cassada,

Monday begins with a chilly morning, but it will be a dry morning as we enjoy a beautiful sunrise. The rest of your morning will see mostly sunny skies, becoming partly cloudy in the afternoon as a weak disturbance moves in. We’ll also see the chance for an isolated shower or two, with the best chances along the I-64 corridor into the mountains.
Monday evening will continue with the chance for an isolated shower, diminishing out Monday night as the sun sets. The rest of the overnight will see partly cloudy skies as temps drop into the upper 40s in some spots. After a breezy afternoon, wind gusts should subside tonight, allowing for the formation of patchy fog across river valleys.
Tuesday brings in high pressure from the north, clearing out our cloud cover in the morning. A cool morning in the 40s/50s will see temps climb into the lows 70s, a few degrees cooler than normal thanks to a northern breeze. With mostly clear skies, the morning and evening commute will be very easy as we enjoy a nice break!
Wednesday will stick with a similar forecast to Tuesday where high pressure looks to dominate. Not much in the way of rain chances and cloud cover looks minimal for the middle of the week. With little in the way of clouds, temps will rocket near the 80 degree mark as high pressure settles into the east.
Thursday morning once again looks dry with only a few clouds around. Our area of high pressure will not be going anywhere for our Thursday, and this will allow for dry and sunny weather to prevail. With more breaks, temps should be quite toasty in the middle 80s as a southern breeze settles in.
Friday kicks out our high pressure as we watch a cold front arrive. This system will bring back the chance for some scattered showers and the chance for a rumble of thunder, especially in the afternoon. This system will clear out of here by Friday night, but not before another warm afternoon with highs in the 80s.
Saturday deals with a cloudy start as our cold front from Friday departs. No rain showers are expected, instead we’ll see clouds clear into the afternoon. By dinnertime, many will see mostly sunny skies. You can also expect a warm afternoon with temps reaching back into the 80s.
Father’s Day at this point is also looking great as a new high pressure system settles near the east coast. Though we could see the chance for an isolated shower or two, it doesn’t look to be a complete washout at this point. If you do have outdoor plans, remember to stay hydrated as temps get into the middle to upper 80s.
In your extended forecast, our 80s aren’t going anywhere just yet as they carry into the following week’s forecast. By the middle of that week, some areas could even see some spots reaching into the 90s! After a dry Monday, the chances of rain return Tuesday and last through the end of next week as we bring back some unsettled weather.
