Raleigh's downtown train station will add its first restaurant later this summer.

What to expect: Union Station Deli & Catering , which is being billed as a New York-style deli, will open in Raleigh Union Station on Aug. 15, according to its owner, Raleigh-based Rocky Top Catering .

    • The menu will include bagels and sandwiches — with toppings like a house-smoked pastrami, corned beef and chicken cutlets — as well as black-and-white cookies.
    • Union Station Deli will initially open Monday through Friday from 6am- 3pm. It expects to add weekend house starting in January.

The latest: New York-style delis are becoming increasingly popular in the Triangle, home to many Northeastern transplants.

    • Earlier this year, Brooklyn Pickle , a small deli chain based out of Syracuse, New York, opened in North Raleigh.

Location: 510 W. Martin St., Raleigh
