Trial for Sheridan Man Charged with Aggravated Assault and Battery Remains Scheduled for Next Month
A pretrial conference for Brice Graves of Sheridan was held this past Thursday in Fourth Judicial District Court. Graves is scheduled to go to trial on August 19 for the charge of aggravated assault and battery. Public Defender Anna Malmberg said at the hearing that the State did submit an offer for a plea agreement, but that her client (Graves) still had some questions and issues that he wanted to discuss with her about the plea deal.
Sheridan Man Accused Of Bludgeoning Mother To Death Not Sane Enough For Trial
A Sheridan man accused of murdering his mother in January is not mentally fit to face trial, a judge has ruled. Israel Melvin, 23, was charged Jan. 10 with one count of second-degree murder after police found his mother, Leonila Melvin, dead on the floor of her home with severe trauma to the back of her head. Her body was covered by gasoline-soaked blankets.
