Escondido’s Fire Department Update

Man Sentenced for Holding Three Migrants Hostage at Escondido Home
One of two brothers who kidnapped a trio of migrants and held them for ransom at an Escondido home was sentenced this week to nearly six years in federal prison. According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Virves Pablo-Francisco, 22, and his 20-year-old brother Nicolas Pablo-Francisco held a 16-year-old Afghan boy, as well as a 41-year-old father and his 19-year-old son from Ecuador, hostage and demanded thousands of dollars from their families.

Vista Jail Inmate Dies in Hospital After Reportedly Suffering From Medical Crisis
Authorities are investigating the death of an inmate who suffered a medical emergency at the Vista Detention Facility and died a day later in a hospital. Death Investigation – Vista Detention Facility
On Monday, July 15, 2024, around 7:00 p.m., Sheriff’s Homicide Investigators were notified that a 53-year-old man in Sheriff’s custody passed away while being treated at a hospital. The man’s name is not being released at this time because we are actively trying to locate and notify his family. A Sheriff’s Family Liaison Officer will support the family as they deal with the loss of a loved one.
