Walsh University Receives $9,000 Grant for Restorative Connections Project
The Center for Restorative Justice and Community Health at Walsh University, in partnership with the Simply Youth program in Stark County, has been awarded a $9,000 grant from the Stark County Social Justice Consortium/Stark County Community Action Agency. This funding is supporting the Impact Institute-Restorative Connections Project, directed by Dr. Michelle Bemiller, Professor of Sociology and Criminal Justice and Director of the Center for Restorative Justice and Community Health at Walsh University. A Canfield bank pitched in with the Youngstown community to gathered money and supplies for residents displaced by the Realty Tower explosion. Several downtown Youngstown residents were ordered to evacuate after the remnants of the building were declared hazardous by structural engineers.
