CHARLESTON COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – A 36-year-old man is facing charges after he was accused of recording a juvenile using the bathroom.

Jose Pilar Marquez Guzman was arrested Monday after deputies with the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office conducted a search on his Branton Road home and seized his cell phone.

According to an affidavit, the sheriff’s office was contacted in February by someone saying they were sent a video from Guzman’s phone showing that he had placed it in a bathroom and recorded a female child.

The person who sent the video claimed there were multiple videos on his cellphone.

A search was conducted on the home and Guzman’s phone was taken as evidence. Detectives found a video that showed him setting up his phone across from the toilet and then calling the child’s name. The victim said she was not aware of a camera in the bathroom.

Detectives also discovered a file that contained a “visual representation” of a minor engaging in sexual activity or appearing in states of sexual activity during a search of the phone, documents state.

Guzman was charged with one count of eavesdropping, peeping, and voyeurism, and one count of sexual exploitation of a minor in the third degree. He was given a $50,000 surety bond during a hearing on Tuesday.
