Village closes on rail trail land
LAKE PLACID — The village of Lake Placid has closed on a 1.77-acre plot of land on Station Street that will function as a new trailhead for the Adirondack Rail Trail. The $249,000 purchase and additional associated fees were funded by $300,000 from the 2023 state Environmental Protection Fund.
Affordable housing in Keene ready for applicants, aimed at moderate-income families
Housing organization building four new homes on Both Meadow Trail. Adirondack Roots will build four new, single-family homes in Keene aimed at moderate-income families, and is accepting applications from potential homeowners. Homes in the Both Meadow Trail development will cost about $160,000 each and be reserved for families that meet income qualifications based on family size: Someone in a single-person household, for example, would qualify if they earned up to $72,480, while total income for a six-person household could go as high as $120,120.

Wilmington Mountain Music Fest, the Brandon Carnival, and more events happening in Vermont and New York this weekend
The third annual Cabot Arts and Music Festival is taking place Saturday. The event takes place on Main Street starting at noon and running until 10 at night. The multi-genre festival includes 12 bands on four stages, dances, food trucks, kids' activities, craft vendors, and a community art project. Tickets are $50 at the gate for adults, and kids under 16 get in for free, so long as they're accompanied by an adult.
