Port Huron to Mackinac Race comes to an end
Sailboats are crossing the finish line up at Mackinac Island as the 100th Bayview Mackinac Race begins to wind down. The race got off to a slow start, being delayed nearly two hours Saturday due to lack of wind on lower Lake Huron. Wind conditions changed later in the day, giving a boost to some of the larger and faster boats in the race. The first to cross the finish line was Wizard in Class A shortly after 1pm Sunday. The leader for much of the race was Maverick, who also won the Chicago to Mackinac Race, but had to withdraw due to a mast failure. As of Monday morning, much of the fleet was in a line between Mackinac Island and Rogers City. The remaining boats are expected to finish Monday afternoon.
Red Wings Should Still Pursue John Gibson Trade
Yes, the Detroit Red Wings have plenty of goaltending depth. That said, they should still pursue a trade to acquire John Gibson from the Anaheim Ducks. Gibson is still a highly talented goalie, and would be Detroit’s clear-cut No. 1 if acquired. It’s a rare circumstance where the future value of a veteran player will likely exceed his present value. The Red Wings need to jump on this opportunity before another team does. Here’s why.

Detroit Lions suggested as trade partner for 3 veteran wide receivers
If there's one position group on offense where the Detroit Lions could look to add to before or during the regular season, it's the wide receiver position. Aside from star wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown, there are question marks. Detroit is depending on Jameson Williams to step into the No. 2 role after a lackluster start to his career, and the team doesn't really have any insurance policy behind him after the departure of Josh Reynolds to the Denver Broncos.

Very early 2025 mock draft has Lions adding versatile 'weapon' to defense
The defense was the weakest link for the Detroit Lions last year. An overall lack of consistent pass rush and bad coverage on the back end created a "chicken or the egg?" scenario, but an effort was made to help both areas this offseason-particularly at cornerback. As the coming season...

Why Red Wings’ Quiet Offseason Was the Right Call Long Term
Plenty of ink has been spilled since the NHL’s Free Agency arrived on July 1 about the uncharacteristically quiet offseason for Steve Yzerman and the Detroit Red Wings. Through the first few days of free agency, the team hadn’t added any significant assets, and had lost an important leader and depth scorer in David Perron, not to mention the brutal Jake Walman trade that baffled hockey fans the world over.
