Four persons were injured — one of them seriously — in an accident just west of Raymondville on Wednesday morning, the Missouri State Highway Patrol said.

Tpr. Justin Dedmon said an eastbound 2011 Ford Edge driven by Gretchen M. White, 25, of Winona, crossed the center of Highway B and struck a westbound 2007 Chevrolet 2500 pulling an enclosed horse trailer operated by Blake J. Wies, 41, of Fayette.

White, who was wearing a seat belt, was flown by medical helicopter to Mercy Hospital in Springfield with serious injuries.

Wies had moderate injuries; and Sarah S. Wies, 40, and a 15-year-old girl both had minor injuries. All were transported by ambulance to Texas County Memorial Hospital in Houston, said Dedmon. Everyone but the girl was wearing a seat belt, he said.

The wreck sparked an emergency response from several agencies, including the Houston Rescue Squad, Houston Rural Fire Department, Raymondville Fire Department and Texas County Sheriff’s Department, as well as two EMS units from Texas County Memorial Hospital.

Assisting Dedmon was MSgt. Dale Pounds.

The extent of injuries to four horses is not known.
