A man faces a pair of felony charges after a Texas County Sheriff’s Department investigation of an alleged assault on March 2.

Gary L. Seago, 73, of 9807 Ashley Creek Road at Raymondville, is charged with third-degree assault and first-degree property damage (both class E felonies).

According to a deputy’s report, the officer was dispatched to a location on Highway B regarding an assault.

The officer made contact with a man there who said he was traveling to his farm, but Seago had the road blocked.

The man said Seago approached him and an argument began. He reportedly told the officer Seago then struck him on the arm multiple times with a cane before the man grabbed it and threw it on the ground. The man said Seago picked up the cane and hit his vehicle’s windshield with it, and the officer observed damage to the glass that appeared to be in the shape of a cane handle.

The officer also reported observing a visible mark on the man’s arm.

When Seago was contacted, he reportedly denied all allegations.

He was charged on July 3. Cash-only bond in the case is set at $1,500.
