BEDFORD COUNTY, Pa. (WTAJ) — A Pennsylvania resident from the Midstate was pulled over while exiting the PA Turnpike and allegedly found with a pound of methamphetamine, troopers report.

Angel Diaz Gibson Jr., 32, of Reading, is facing multiple drug possession with intent to deliver charges after he was pulled over exiting the turnpike and claiming he was going to visit his kids in Maryland, court documents show.

A state trooper said in the criminal complaint that he was monitoring traffic exiting the turnpike in Bedford July 4 when he observed Gibson exit, noting that his vehicle’s registration was expired. He then conducted a traffic stop.

When approaching, the trooper noted a strong smell of marijuana coming from the silver SUV, prompting to ask Gibson to exit the vehicle. While speaking to him, troopers said he claimed he was going to Deep Creek, Maryland to visit his kids. He also allegedly admitted to having “about a blunt” in the SUV.

After consenting to a vehicle search, troopers said in the charges that they found a pound of methamphetamine and two ounces of fentanyl — an amount they said was indicative of dealing drugs.

Gibson was taken into custody and arraigned early Friday morning. He was placed in Bedford County Prison with bail set at $350,000.
