The Garfield girls track and field team won the Division III Cuyahoga Heights District title by a wide margin with 116 points, well ahead of runner-up Wellington (80) and third-place Independence (77).

The G-Men got off to a strong start Wednesday, including titles in the 3,200-meter relay and high jump (junior Hannah Kernig) and a second-place finish in the shot put (Lille Shackelford). After scoring 13 points in Wednesday's shot put, the G-Men added 14 in Friday's discus, as sophomore Elise Edwards finished second (110-9) and freshman Hannah Timmons (106-9) was third.

Garfield garnered a ton of points from its distance runners as well, with Kathlene McMayon and Olivia Rowe finishing second and third, respectively, in the 1,600 meters, and third and fourth, respectively, in the 800. The G-Men also advanced three of their four relays, with their 800 and 1,600 relays both finishing fourth.

    Division I Austintown District

The Aurora girls earned runner-up honors at Austintown with 108 points, finishing behind only Solon (163) and edging the host Falcons by four.

Greenmen senior Kassidy Fry was second in the high jump (5-2) and the 100 hurdles (15.58), and teammate Hannah Salgado was runner-up in the pole vault (10-0). Both were also part of Aurora's third-place 800 relay.

All four Greenmen girls relays advanced to the regional meet, including a second-place finish in the 1,600 by Eva Logan, Isabelle Leindecker, Isabella Cicero and Salgado. Cicero also delivered an individual title in the 400 (56.79) and advanced in the 200 (third, 26.13) and 100 (fourth, 12.79).

Roosevelt sophomore Kaidyn Harris also starred in Austintown, placing second in the long jump (16-5½) and the 100 (12.50).
