Streetsboro girls soccer opened the 2024 season with a 6-2 nonleague victory over host Crestwood at Jack Lambert Stadium.

Up just 2-1 at the half despite controlling possession and the shot count, the Rockets (1-0-0) ran away to start the second, including three goals in a span of less than five minutes. Sophomore Olivia Willard, who had a goal and an assist Friday, adjusted perfectly to senior Madelyn Genovese's through ball and sent in a shot from a tough angle to push Streetsboro's lead to 3-1 in the 47th minute. Genovese added a goal two minutes later followed by sophomore Jenna Fall driving home the rebound of a Genovese shot to push the visitors' advantage to four goals (5-1).

Sophomore Livia Martini, in her first varsity soccer game after going out for volleyball last season, scored both Crestwood goals.

Reese Tucker tallied a hat trick for the Falcons (1-0-0), who scored in the opening 10 minutes, took a two-goal lead into the intermission, then ran away thanks to two more Tucker goals in the second half.

Taryn Allen scored the fourth goal and delivered a number of stellar passes (as did Delilah Rahe) while Carlee Fafrak recorded the shutout in net.

    Waterloo 5, Marlington 3

Freshman Alexis Henry scored two goals in her high school debut. Senior Carletta Henry added a goal and an assist for the Vikings (1-0-0), who finished with a sizable lead in corners (6-0) and shots on goal (20-13).

Sophia Wood made nine saves for Waterloo (1-0-0).

Payton Krzeminski and the Rockets burst out of the gate, with the senior angling in from the right side for an eighth-minute goal, then sending a cross to sophomore Nick Castriloa for a slick one-touch finish in the 13th minute. Junior Ethan Laryea scored the next two goals for Streetsboro (1-0-0), followed by a pair of goals from sophomore Logan Sadowski and finally a pair of goals from junior Gabriel Nascimento.

Freshman Ryder Miller provided a highlight for the Red Devils (0-1-0) when he scored on a breakaway in the 77th minute.

    Field 10, Ellet 1

Luke Lonzrick had a hat trick and Mitch Adams and Wyatt Rahe each had a pair of assists to lead the Falcons (1-0-0) to an impressive victory.
