Two years ago, she admitted that the story of her getting kidnapped was fabricated and said she was “deeply ashamed.”

In a statement released by her lawyer, Sherri apologized to her family, friends, and “all the good people who needlessly suffered” while trying to help her. She was sentenced to 18 months in prison after pleading guilty to one count of each mail fraud and lying to a federal officer, reported People Magazine.
