Field Club Challenges Neighbor’s Property Ownership Claim
The New Canaan Field Club is disputing property rights with one of its neighbors, documents show. The residents of 164 Smith Ridge Road, a .68-acre residential property located just north of the private club on Route 123, “have made claims of ownership and/or control through adverse possession or via an easement to a section of” the Field Club’s property, according to a Notice filed June 21 in the Town Clerk’s office by attorney Todd Lampert of New Canaan-based Lampert, Toohey & Rucci LLC.

Pavement Preservation Program: Current Progress and Next Steps
The First Selectman, Board of Finance, and the Town Council recently supported a proposal by the Public Works Department to fund an innovative approach to the town’s road improvement plan. The $800,000 funding was supported through a federal ARPA grant. In 2023, the Town allocated $318,000 in road improvement applications—primarily, crack sealing. This 2024 season, $354,000 has been budgeted for expanding road improvement applications to include “Chip Sealing.”
Old Town Road Sanitary Sewer Force Main Replacement
Burns Construction Company will be starting The Town of Trumbull’s Sanitary Sewer Force Main Replacement project the week of July 22, 2024. The work will begin at 1980 Old Town Road and proceed easterly to the intersection of Old Town Road and Red Oak Road (Bridgeport). The anticipated construction completion is Fall 2024, weather permitting. The Road will be completely closed to traffic between 7am-3:30pm. The detour plan can be viewed here, Option 1 will be implemented. As project progresses, alternate detours may be utilized, labeled as Option 2. All emergency vehicles and school busses will be allowed to pass at all times. Please reach out to the Engineering Department with any questions / concerns. Thank you for your co-operation.
