    What's happening at the Redding Rodeo on Friday

    Day three of the 76th annual Redding Rodeo starts with Redding's most popular community-wide pancake breakfast and ends with bull riding and barrel racing.

    Friday is "Tuff Enough to Wear Pink" night at the rodeo. Event planners ask ticket holders to join them in wearing pink in a show of support for breast cancer awareness.

    Friends of Redding Rodeo and the Redding Rodeo Association pledged $10,000 this year to help fight cancer, the rodeo association's General Manager Cindy Shonholtz said.

    The program starts at 7 p.m. at the Redding Rodeo grounds at 715 Auditorium Drive. Gates open at 5 p.m.

    General admission is $30. Go to reddingrodeo.com/events to buy tickets.

    Asphalt Cowboys serve up community pancake breakfast

    Mosey into downtown Redding Friday morning and have breakfast with approximately 10,000 other North State residents. People start lining up between 5 a.m. and 10 a.m. for the Asphalt Cowboys Pancake Breakfast.

    Friday marks the cowboys' 70th rodeo week community breakfast, according to event spokesman Dave Tappan.

    Regardless of the weather, the Asphalt Cowboys will serve up pancakes, sausage, juice and coffee or milk to ticket holders, Tappan said.

    The city blocks off streets around the Cascade Theatre to make space for this outdoor event’s dining tables and grilling stations.

    Tickets are $5 in advance from an Asphalt Cowboy and $6 at the event.
