ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — The St. Petersburg Police Department is searching for the driver who killed his 20-year-old passenger in a car crash. Investigators determined Herbert Jones, 26, was the driver of the car that crashed and killed Jeremiah Jones on Sunday, July 14, police said in a news release. The two men are reportedly not related.
Teen in critical condition after St. Petersburg shooting
ST. PETERSBURG, Florida — A 14-year-old boy is in critical but stable condition after being shot near 20th Avenue South and 44th Street South on Thursday afternoon. The incident occurred at approximately 3:45 p.m. when another group fired several shots, according to a statement from the St. Petersburg Police Department. The victim managed to reach a nearby house for help and was subsequently transported to John Hopkins All Children's Hospital.

ST. PETERSBURG, Florida — Authorities arrested 23 suspects on drug trafficking and dog fighting charges on July 19, 2024, following a year-long investigation. Detectives from the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office, St. Petersburg Police Department, and Florida Department of Law Enforcement launched the investigation last August into a drug trafficking organization operating in Pinellas County and the Tampa Bay area. During the probe, detectives discovered several suspects were also involved in a dog fighting ring spanning multiple counties.
St. Petersburg police arrest two men for bar pickpocketing spree
ST. PETERSBURG, Florida — Detectives arrested Miguel Angel Urra Diaz and Yosniel Jesus Llanes Mora early Sunday for stealing phones and wallets from women at bars in June. Diaz, a 51-year-old, and Mora, a 33-year-old, were identified on video surveillance using the victims' stolen credit and debit cards at a Sam's Club in St. Petersburg, according to a press release from the St. Petersburg Police Department. An officer assigned to the downtown area spotted Diaz and took him into custody early Sunday morning, while detectives arrested Mora nearby shortly after.
