Longtime Texarkana ISD board member described as ‘blessing’ and ‘pillar of community’ in wake of passing
SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) - The staff in the Texarkana Texas Independent School District is mourning the death of Gerald Brooks. The longtime educator died on Sunday, July 21. Brooks began his career in the district in 1963 as a classroom teacher at Dunbar High. Over the years, he served in many positions at TISD. After retirement, Brooks was appointed as a member of the School Board of Trustees in 2013, a position he has served over the past 10 years. He served as president and vice president, and his term was set to end in 2026.
