West Virginia's recruiting class vaulted up the 247Sports Team Rankings in the last few weeks. The Mountaineers have been adding pieces left and right and, sometimes when that happens, fans forget just what exactly they're getting with each new addition. Seton Hill, WVU pitchers chosen on 3rd day of MLB Draft
Two pitchers from district universities were drafted Tuesday on the third day of the MLB Draft. Seton Hill right-handed pitcher Aidan Layton, a graduate of Bishop McCort High School in Johnstown, was chosen by the Oakland Athletics at No. 496 overall, the first pick in the 17th round. At 6-2, 295 pounds, he was 7-2, with a 3.15 ERA and 1.03 WHIP in 15 starts. In 88 2/3 innings, he struck out 90 batters, walked 20 and allowed a .216 batting average.

INDIANAPOLIS — Ivan Puskovitch and his West Virginia teammates got word around 5 p.m. on Thursday April 18 that their coach, Vic Riggs, was retiring. By the next morning, Puskovitch was on a plane to California, where he’d started his college career at USC and where he calls TSM Aquatics in Santa Monica home. By Saturday morning, he was in the water and back on schedule to chip away at his weekly workload of around 100,000 yards.

Neal Brown recently pointed to the media doubting WVU again as motivation for West Virginia in 2024, but there are some analyst who do believe in the Mountaineers. In fact, WVU was mentioned as a sleeper pick to win one of the Power Four conference titles on an episode of CBS Sports’ “The Cover 3 Podcast” with hosts Chip Patterson and Tom Fornelli. The Mountaineer Maniacs is the largest student organization on campus and official student section of WVU Sports. Here’s how to become a member of the Maniacs. To become a Maniac, students must register online for one of two membership types. Basic Membership, which costs $25 annually, includes a Maniacs tee shirt, watch party invitations, Olympic sports giveaways, away basketball and football trip invitations and a 20% discount at the Book Exchange. The Ultimate Membership costs $50 annually and offers the same benefits but guarantees football tickets.

The Art Museum of West Virginia University is welcoming a new museum director. Aaron Levi Garvey is an experienced museum curator and historian specializing in modern and contemporary art. He has worked with esteemed institutions, serving as the Janet L. Nolan Director of Curatorial Affairs at the Jule Collins Smith Museum of Fine Art at Auburn University, founding chief curator of The Hudson Eye and Long Road Projects Foundation, and chief curator of the Andy Warhol Museum.
