Softball Regional: Douglas and Spanish Springs to meet on Friday in winner's bracket game

The top two seeds remained unbeaten in the 5A-North softball Regional as both Douglas and Spanish Springs won on Thursday.

The defending champion Tigers beat Reed, 3-1, and the Cougars beat Bishop Manogue 7-0.

Also on Thursday, Galena eliminated Reno, 15-0 and McQueen eliminated Damonte Ranch, 8-4.

On Friday at Bishop Manogue, at 2 p.m., Galena plays Manogue and McQueen plays Reed. At. 4 p.m., Spanish Springs faces Douglas.

In the Cougars win Thursday, sophomore Madison Rogers was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs and Alleighfaye Abbie was 3-for-3 with two RBIs and a double. Lily Delamore, a junior, got the win in the circle, striking out seven.

For the Miners, Sis King and Kiki Harris, both sophomores, each had two hits. Kaylee Sanchez got the loss as she allowed 11 hits and struck out seven.

In the Tigers win, Talia Tretton allowed five hits and struck out 12. Lilyann Lee, Maddie Gooch and Marissa McLellan each had an RBI.

For the Raiders, Breanna Staats was 4-for-4 with an RBI.

In McQueen's win, Teya Ielati was 4-for-4 with an RBI. Violet Moyao, a freshman, got the win allowing six hits and striking out six.

In Galena's win, Ava Greene was 3-for-3 with a home run and five RBIs and Maya Bennett was 2-for-2 with two RBIs. Brea Angle was 2-for-4 with a double and three runs scored. Greene got the win, striking out seven and allowing one hit.
