Reno High bounced back after losing its first game on Thursday in the state 5A baseball tournament to force the if-necessary game, but the Huskies lost to Palo Verde, 7-0, in the final on Saturday at Bishop Gorman.

The Huskies finished the season 28-11 overall.

Reno managed just three hits in the second game. Five Palo Verde batters recorded at least one RBI. Luke Herrera and Barrett Johnson each had two RBIs for the Panthers.

In the first game Saturday, Reno scored in the first inning, added two more runs in the fifth, then exploded for seven runs in the seventh inning. The loss snapped Palo Verde’s 12-game winning streak heading into Saturday.

Palo Verde won its second state baseball title after winning the 4A in 2018.
