    Reno club soccer team wins NorCal cup, earns bid to national tournament

    The Sierra Surf 07 boys soccer team won the NorCal State Cup in June, earning the team a spot in a national tournament starting Thursday in Denver.

    The Sierra Surf will play in the National Cup XXII Finals Thursday-Monday.

    The NorCal State Cup competition started last fall. Sierra Surf will play in the NPL (National Premier League) this fall.

    Sierra Surf is ranked No. 1 in Nevada and No. 54 in the nation for their age group, according to GotSoccer.

    Coach Brock Richter has been with the club for more than a decade. Sierra Surf's players are from several area schools and almost all will be seniors this fall.
