Fort Worth ISD Announces Free Dinner Program for Students in 2024-25 School Year
The Fort Worth Independent School District is stepping up its nutrition game with the introduction of a free dinner program for students in the 2024-25 school year. More items could soon be on the dining hall menu for Tarrant County College students. The college system, which serves a student population of around 45,000, is currently designing the kitchens of three dining facilities at its South, Northeast and Southeast campuses. Margaret Lutton, the TCC executive director of institutional and strategic development, said the college is looking to build out these dining facilities so it can expand their menus, including with hot food.

Grapevine-Colleyville ISD is the latest North Texas school district to require students to keep their phones away during class hours. Richardson ISD was the first district to make such a policy and say they’ve seen better student engagement; students there have to lock their phones in a pouch like they’re attending a taping of a comedy special. Keller is also drafting its own policy. More will surely come. Dallas ISD’s policy is that the phones must be turned off throughout the school day.
