The Rhea County Animal Shelter held a public pizza party on Wednesday to thank the Rhea County community for its support of the shelter over the years. The event featured pizza from King of Pizza, as well as a raffle and the chance to pet and adopt shelter dogs and cats. The shelter recently announced it had achieved a 95 percent save rate. Shelter officials said that was made possible through implementing new programs such as a foster care network, a 'Doggy Day Out' program and utilizing new life-saving methods through new vaccine protocols, among other new programs.
