Rice County Collaborative announces nearly $450,000 in social service grants; City seeking applicants for boards & commissions; Northfield Arts Guild to present Rue & Sabien
The governing board of the Rice County Family Services Collaborative, a partnership between Rice County’s Public Health, Social Services and Community Corrections departments and Faribault and Northfield Public schools, the Cannon Valley Special Education Cooperative and Three Rivers Community Action, announced yesterday that it has awarded $447,000 to several Rice County organizations, providing them with two years of support.
Multi-vehicle crashes injured four Sunday in SE Minnesota
KIMT-TV 3 NEWS – Several multi-vehicle accidents Sunday in southeast Minnesota injured a total of four people. The first happened around 3:59 pm on Interstate 35 in Rice County. The Minnesota State Patrol says a pickup pulling a camper, two SUVs, and a car were all southbound in a two-lane construction zone near mile marker 55 when they crashed.
Day of Caring volunteers offer Faribault, Northfield assistance, strength, caring
On Thursday afternoon, Mandy Jirak and Chris Duncan, both administrative assistants at Infants Remembered In Silence (IRIS), were busy explaining to the two volunteer teams what projects they could lend a hand to. One team from Daikin, a platinum sponsor of the annual Day of Caring event for Rice County United Way, would stain the front handicapped accessible walkway, while another team from Shattuck St. Mary’s would be organizing donated baby clothes, blankets and hats.
