    2024-03-07

    The Rice Lake Public Library has announced a new opportunity for its patrons to meet authors and hear directly from them about their newest books and their favorite genres.

    "We are so excited to announce that the Rice Lake Public Library will now showcase a live virtual author talk series each month featuring bestselling, award-winning and highly-acclaimed authors from around the world," said Shelby Freindshuh, the library's Public Services director. "The featured writers and thought leaders will cover a wide range of fiction and nonfiction genres."

    She added, "The free, virtual series takes place two to three times a month and includes the opportunity to ask questions to the author. A complete list of events is available on Rice Lake Public Library's virtual author talk series website at libraryc.org/rlpl."

    Its first author talk on March 6 featured Nina Totenberg on the power of friendships. Two other author talks upcoming this month are:

    • Christopher Paolini, speaking about 20 years of "dragon-riding in youth adult fantasy" on Thursday, March 14, at 3 p.m.;

    • and Madeline Miller on retelling Greek classics, an exploration of the modern epics, on Thursday, March 21, at 6 p.m.

    All author talks are free and open to the public. For more information or to register for the talks, visit libraryc.org/rlpl or call 715-234-4861.
