Suspect charged in first Flint homicide of 2023 sentenced to prison
FLINT, MI – A Flint man was sentenced to prison time after pleading guilty to the city’s first homicide of 2023. Ryan Lamar Cooper, 32, will serve at least seven years and two months to a maximum of 30 years in prison after pleading guilty to manslaughter. He has been in jail for more than 1,500 days.
Flint Police Cracking Down on Illegal Street Racing
A city ordinance in Flint on illegal drag racing is in full effect this summer. Flint police seized three vehicles recently for racing on city streets. In 2023, the city passed a zero-tolerance ordinance against reckless driving and illegal street racing after receiving numerous complaints about drivers putting others in harm’s way for racing up and down city streets.
