Tales from the streets: Downtown Pasco holds its breath
You’d be forgiven if the name Shegow Gagow (colloquially known as Africa) was unfamiliar to you. Yet, if you’re in Pasco’s downtown with any regularity, you’ll probably recognize its owner: a lanky, handsome Somali immigrant who can often be spotted interacting animatedly with fellow street denizens. Just don’t strain your neck looking around for him when you’re at Café con Arte this weekend trying their new ice cream offerings, because Shegow has been languishing in jail since April on an assault charge. Those that live and work downtown, regardless of housing status, have been noting his absence in unexpected ways.
Dodge Street in West Richland temporarily closed due to fire at ServiceMaster Restore building
WEST RICHLAND, Wash. - UPDATE 11:23 p.m. According to the West Richland Police Department, Dodge Street is now reopened. According to Chief Paul Carlyle from Benton County Fire District 4, crews contained the fire in the warehouse at 6:53 p.m. Dodge Street will remain closed as crews are mopping up.
UPDATE: More than 5 homes evacuated in Kennewick fire, everyone allowed back home around 2 a.m.
KENNEWICK, Wash. - 2 a.m. - Zachary Cain with the Kennewick Police Department tells us five houses to the east of the house that caught fire were evacuated. He also says a few houses west of the house were also evacuated, however, as of 2 a.m., everyone is back in their homes except for the home that caught fire.

Kennewick Fire crews rushed to a residence on West 20th for a report of a fire early Monday morning. Around 12:32 AM crews responded to a home in the 6800 block of West 20th Ave. and found a home fully engulfed in flames. The fire threatened nearby structures, and some other homes were evacuated.
