K9 tracks down Wauconda man in forest preserve after DUI crash
LONG GROVE, Ill. - A Wauconda man who police say tried to flee from a DUI traffic crash was taken into custody thanks to the sharp nose of a Lake County sheriff's K9. Yiyari C. Salvador, 26, was taken into custody Wednesday in the Heron Creek Forest Preserve by a sheriff's deputy and his K9, according to a statement from Chris Covelli with the Lake County Sheriff's Office said.
Burlington House Explosion Investigation Continues
Racine County Sheriff Christopher Schmaling (pictured) hopes the search of the town of Burlington home, leveled by an explosion and fire last weekend, can be completed by the end of this week. Schmaling says it's believed there were three people in the home, although autopsies have been performed on the remains of just two people found in the debris. While the search for a third possible victim continues, he says the work is “painstaking.” Schmaling says additional assistance has been called in, including cadaver dogs.
