    Already a third of the way done with summer. I feel like it's going a little too fast as it feels students literally just got out of school!

    ⚾ Former Earlham Quaker tries out for Savannah Bananas

    Earlham College has produced another professional baseball player!

    Max Fries, who just finished his fifth season with the Quakers, played his fourth game for the Savannah Bananas organization Thursday night.

    Playing against the Bananas, Fries played on The Visitors, the developmental team that is used to decide on players to make any of the three main teams next season.

    While he said his life's motto is to play for an audience of one (God), Thursday night saw Fries play in front of an audience of 15,000 at a sold-out Victory Field, with his team even coming out on top as underdogs.

    The Wayne County Foundation has announced the 14 local organizations to receive a combined $143,807 through Grant Cycle II.

    The monies going to each of the organizations will be used to fund a variety of programs, from Centerville Senior High School purchasing and training an emotional support dog to the Golay Community Center making facility improvements.

    The most awarded to an organization was $15,000, going to Brighter Path Inc., Communities in Schools of Wayne County and Every Child Can Read, Inc., among others.
